Gauley Season is the closest thing American whitewater has to a pilgrimage. Six release weekends, the whole community in one place.

Most river merch picks a pretty name and stops. This one carries every significant rapid on the run, in the order you hit them, with the class — pulled from American Whitewater's tables, not from memory. Length, gradient, class, and flow on the bottom line. If you've run it, you can read your own line off the back of the shirt.

The ratings are American Whitewater's own — Pillow and Iron Ring IV+, Sweet's IV — not the marketing "Big Five Class V." No Lower Gauley rapids on this shirt.

What it is. 230 gsm (6.8 oz) cotton, seamless sides, relaxed cut. BIRD mark small at the chest, the full run printed in Bone across the back. Black, Navy, or Lava Smoke. Sizes S–3XL. Made to order — nothing gets printed until you buy it.

Why $35. Two prints, not one — a small mark at the chest and a full-height panel across the back, and the back is the expensive one. The blank is knit as a tube, so there are no side seams to twist after a wash. Every shirt is made to order, which costs more per unit than a pallet of pre-printed stock and means nothing gets printed that nobody wanted. The rest is the research: every named rapid on the run, in order, checked against American Whitewater's tables.

Fit. Runs small. Check the size guide before you order — if you sit between sizes, go up.

Care. 100% cotton. Machine wash cold, gentle. No bleach. Tumble dry low. Do not iron the print.

Embroidered falcon at left chest and sleeve. Full BIRD lockup printed across the upper back. Woven BIRD label at the hem. No prints on performance fabric that can't take them.
